How the Vietnam war started?
France after the second war wanted to have a larger empire so they tried to take over colonies in Indochina like Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. France had no problem getting control in Laos and Cambodia but had problems in North Vietnam. In 1954 after 12 years of struggle to get hold of North Vietnam France withdrew after a conference in Geneva. After the agreement Vietnam was divided into two parts with a communist party in north and anti-communist party in the south. In the 1950s and 1960s many countries were sacred of becoming communist. Many countries believes in the domino theory is stated that when on country in becomes communism all countries around will have danger in falling communist. As Tension started to rise between North and South Vietnam countries started to chose to side the United States on the south side and communists countries like China, Soviet and the Union.
